VfB’s goalkeeper will be between the posts for Germany’s friendly on Monday evening at the MHP Arena against Ghana (kick-off: 20:45 CEST). Coach Julian Nagelsmann announced the news at the press conference ahead of the match, saying: “Alexander Nübel featuring up here in front of the media is confirmation that he will be playing tomorrow, as a reward for his excellent performances over a long period of time”.
“I’m absolutely delighted to bet getting to play in our home stadium,” Nübel himself said. “My friends and family will be at the match tomorrow and I can hardly wait.”
“Alex is a loyal goalkeeper who has plenty of quality,” Nagelsmann added. “The squad we’ve brought together has a lot of quality, and he’s very much part of that. There are lots of other countries where Alex would no doubt be the undisputed No.1.”
In addition to Nübel, VfB have four more representatives in the Germany squad for the Ghana friendly, namely Josha Vagnoman, Angelo Stiller, Chris Führich and Deniz Undav.
