A great achievement for Bilal El Khannouss! The VfB attacker has reached the final of the Africa Cup of Nations with his country Morocco after the hosts edged out Nigeria in the semi-final on Wednesday night. Following a goalless 120 minutes, the match was decided by penalties, with Morocco winning 4-2. El Khannouss was included in the starting line-up, as he was in the previous two rounds, and played 84 minutes. It was his 32nd senior cap for the Atlas Lions.
So, the dream of the title goes on for the 21-year-old. The final will be played on Sunday 18 January at 20:00 CET in the capital Rabat, where Morocco face off against Senegal. The third-place match will be contested between Nigeria and Egypt on Saturday.
