VfB star Bilal El Khannouss and Morocco have progressed to the last 16 at the Africa Cup of Nations on home soil. After a 2-0 win over Comoros in the opener and a 1-1 draw against Mali on Matchday 2, Walid Regragui’s side beat Zambia 3-0 in their final group game on Monday evening, although El Khannouss was not involved.
As winners of Group A, the hosts will now meet the third-placed team from Group C, D or E in the round of 16 on Sunday 4 January at 17:00 CET. They will find out their opponents following the conclusion of the group phase on Wednesday night.
