Wins galore for internationals

World Cup qualifying, U21 Euro qualifying and friendlies: it’s been a largely successful international break for the selected VfB players, with Chema playing the most minutes for Spain U21s.

Germany now top of Group A

Germany picked up two wins in Group A of World Cup qualifying to leave themselves top of the table on goal difference. Alexander Nübel and Angelo Stiller weren’t involved in either the 4-0 win against Luxembourg or the 1-0 victory in Northern Ireland, while Jamie Leweling left the camp because of an adductor issue.

Debut for Jaquez, minutes for El Khannouss

Luca Jaquez made his senior debut for Switzerland in the 2-0 away win in Sweden on Friday evening. The defender was an unused substitute for the 0-0 draw in Slovenia on Monday.

In African qualifying, Bilal El Khannouss started and played 69 minutes for Morocco in their 1-0 win over Bahrain on Thursday. The attacker didn’t feature in the 1-0 success against Congo on Tuesday night.

Karazor and Bouanani stay on the bench

Atakan Karazor and Badredine Bouanani also celebrated wins. The VfB captain was a spectator for Turkey’s 6-1 victory in Bulgaria and the 4-1 success at home to Georgia, while Bouanani likewise watched from the bench as Algeria won 3-0 in Somalia and beat Uganda 2-1 at home.

Chema features for 135 minutes

Chema was the only Stuttgart player to feature in both of his team’s games. The Spanish U21 side beat Norway 4-1 in a friendly on Friday, with the summer signing playing the first half. He then completed the 90 minutes in the 2-1 victory over Finland in qualifying for the U21 Euro on Tuesday night.

Finallly, Lazar Jovanovic played 66 minutes for Serbia U21s in their 1-0 friendly win over Romania on Friday.
