Germany suffered a 2-0 loss against France in the UEFA Nations League third-place play-off at the MHP Arena on Sunday afternoon. Nick Woltemade was named in the starting line-up but was replaced by Deniz Undav at the break.
Undav goal chalked off
After Kylian Mbappé had put Les Bleus in front on the stroke of half-time (45’), Undav thought he had equalised early in the second period but it was ruled out following a VAR review for a previous foul in the build-up (53’).
Mittelstädt was brought off the bench in the 65th minute but could not turn the game in Germany’s favour. Michael Olise made it 2-0 in the 84th minute to secure the bronze medal for France, leaving Germany fourth.
