While some of the VfB Stuttgart squad are now enjoying a summer holiday following the team’s DFB Cup triumph at the weekend, the 2024/25 season is not yet over for eight of Sebastian Hoeneß’s players.
In Alexander Nübel, Maximilian Mittelstädt, Deniz Undav and Nick Woltemade, who received his first senior call-up, four players have joined up with the Germany squad. Head coach Julian Nagelsmann also selected Angelo Stiller, but the 24-year-old had to withdraw because he has not yet fully recovered from an ankle injury.
Germany are in the final four of the UEFA Nations League and are set to face Portugal in the semi-finals in Munich on 4 June (kick-off 21:00 CEST); France and Spain are the other teams left in the competition. The third-place play-off and the final are both scheduled for 8 June and will respectively be held in Stuttgart (at 15:00) and in Munich (at 21:00).
Demirovic and Rieder also in action
Ermedin Demirovic was once again called up by Bosnia and Herzegovina, who face San Marino in FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifying on 7 June (at 15:00 CEST) before a friendly in Slovenia three days later.
Fabian Rieder, whose loan spell at VfB concludes with the 2024/25 season, will play two friendlies in the USA with Switzerland, against Mexico (on 7 June) and the host nation (11 June).
U21 EURO
Enzo Millot (France), Finn Jeltsch and Woltemade (both Germany) will participate at the UEFA U21 European Championship in Slovenia from 11-28 June, the tournament representing Woltemade’s second of the summer at international level.
Germany will meet Slovenia, Czechia and England in Group B; France take on Portugal, Georgia and Poland in Group B.
