First call-up, first appearance. Nick Woltemade celebrated his debut for the German senior national team on Wednesday night. The VfB striker started alongside team-mate Maximilian Mittelstädt in the 2-1 defeat to Portugal in the UEFA Nations League semi-finals, with both players coming off in the 60th minute. Deniz Undav and Alex Nübel did not feature.
Third-place match in Stuttgart on Sunday
Following the defeat, Germany will now contest the third-place match on Sunday 8 June at 15:00 CEST at Stuttgart’s MHP Arena. Their opponents will be the losers of the other semi-final between Spain and France, which takes place on Thursday night (21:00 CEST), also in Stuttgart.
