Croatia’s hopes of reaching another World Cup final were dashed on Tuesday evening as Zlatko Dalic’s side lost 3-0 to Argentina in the semi-finals. Lionel Messi gave the Albiceleste the lead from the penalty spot in the 34th minute before Julian Alvarez doubled their advantage five minutes later. The 22-year-old striker completed the scoring in the 69th minute after a superb solo run from Messi.
Borna Sosa was named in the starting line-up before being taken off at half-time.
Sosa and his teammates are back in action at 16:00 CET on Saturday when they take on the losers of the second semi-final between France and Morocco in the third place play-off.
