Friendly match 19. July 2019

Successful dress rehearsal

VfB beat SC Freiburg 4-2 on Friday in a friendly split into four quarters of 30 minutes.

VfB Stuttgart won their final friendly before the start of the new Bundesliga 2 season, beating Freiburg 4-2 in Schruns on Friday afternoon. Daniel Didavi, Mario Gomez, Gonzalo Castro and Tanguy Coulibaly were on target in an impressive display by Tim Walter’s side.

Walter was able to give the majority of his first-team squad a run-out against the top-flight outfit, who provided stern opposition in VfB’s final game before their league opener at home to Hannover 96 on 26 July.

Head coach Tim Walter: "Overall we’re pleased with how we played today. We took a while to get into the game, but we took firm control after that and did a lot of the things we’ve been working on in recent weeks. We’re looking forward to the start of the season against Hannover."
