On Friday afternoon, VfB played out a test friendly against third division VfR Aalen. Coming from 0-2 down, Hannes Wolf’s side, including a number of youth team players, hit back to eventually equalise and earn a 2-2 draw against the 'Ostälblern'.
The team in the shirts with the infamous red hoop, initially went behind early on to a striker from Aalen‘s Mattia Trianni (10'). The host’s goal-scorer had an opportunity to extend the host’s lead further just minutes later, but pulled his shot just wide of the post. Then Simon Terodde (29') and Daniel Ginczek (34') both had good chances to level the scores, but VfR Aalen goalkeeper Daniel Bernhardt was there to deny the Wasenelf on both occasions. The home side, on the other hand, made their next chance count, with Sebastian Vasiliadis making it 2-0 for the hosts (42'). On the stroke of half-time, Simon Terodde was on target to make it 1-2 from the Cannstatt Boys going into the break (45').
In the second-half, VfB introduced a number of youth team players (see the line-up). Eric Hottmann had the first chance for his side after the re-start, but headed narrowly over the crossbar (61'). There was also a close call for Marco Stefandl in the closing phase, as he struck the post with a free-kick. Shortly afterwards, the VfB players had their chance to celebrate, with Benjamin Hadzic netting to make the final score 2-2.
