A total of five fan groups from the official fan club “VfB Stuttgart Americana” made the journey from different parts of the world, including Washington D.C., California and other parts of the USA.
For many, it was their first face-to-face meeting - organised, accompanied and supported by VfB Stuttgart and the “Ami Brigade”, led by Rob Martin, a Stuttgart-based group of American VfB fans. Together they organised tickets, coordinated travel plans and sent fan merchandise - all with the aim of being at Berlin's Olympiastadion to watch VfB play Arminia Bielefeld in the DFB Cup final.
Emotional moments: stadium visit full of highlights
“We arrived on Friday, met old and new friends and were able to experience the game live in the stadium with other VfB fans - that was our absolute highlight,” said Michael and Dora Washington of a very special weekend.
Scott McBroom was also full of enthusiasm: "I came from Washington and traveled to Berlin via Hannover. My brother Sean, my nephew Ryan and I were able to attend the VfB Event at the Bundestag, enjoy the fan festival on Breitscheidplatz - and my nephew even got a photo with Fritzle."
One moment in the stadium remains unforgettable: “When Nick scored the first goal, I lifted my nephew onto my shoulders – we had goosebumps.”
The atmosphere in the VfB block? "Electric. Simply epic."
More than just a game - a worldwide VfB family
Whether from Berlin, Stuttgart or across the Atlantic, what unites everyone is their love for the club with the stripe around the chest. This trip underlined that VfB moves and connects people far beyond the borders of Baden-Württemberg.
And so, weeks later, a song still rings through the streets of Washington D.C.:
“Allez VfB!”
