On a day of bright sunshine in Stuttgart, approximately 50,000 fans contributed to a fabulous atmosphere at VfB’s official season-opening event on Saturday 8 August. At the heart of the festivities were around 50 stalls on Mercedesstraße, which had plenty to offer for supporters of all ages. The entire site was a hive of activity, from interactive campaigns and competitions to sporting challenges.
“Being close to our fans incredibly important”
VfB board member for sport Alexander Wehrle said: “This joint season opener has just become a tradition. We’re a club with a rich history, and being close to our fans is incredibly important to us. That makes it all the more wonderful to kick off the new season today with the entire VfB family.”
First-team stars take to stage
The unveiling of the VfB first team for the 2026/27 season – and subsequent visit of the squad – caused particular excitement among the visiting supporters. In front of thousands of cheering fans, the Cannstatt lads made it abundantly clear how much they are looking forward to the new season. The VfB Women’s team also paid a visit to the stage after their friendly against TSG Hoffenheim.
€100,000 for a good cause
During Saturday’s season-opening event, Stars4Kids presented VfB foundation ‘Brustring der Herzen’ with a check for €100,000.
VfB board member for sport Alexander Wehrle was delighted with the donation, saying: “€100,000 is a fantastic amount for our foundation. It will allow us to provide our projects with more support and make an important contribution to the lives of people who benefit from them. We’re very grateful for it.”
