VfB Scouting in India
As strong as VfB’s youth development is in Germany, the prospect for identifying talent on an international scale presents a rare and distinctive opportunity. From the youth partnership with Sao Paulo FC in Brazil to Nagasaki, Japan, our youth coaches now journey to India. Coupled with highly passionate fans from all areas, the Indian market continues to provide unique opportunities in football relating to youth development, media relations, and business partnerships.
Sudeva Delhi FC
As part of a strategic partnership with Sudeva Delhi FC, VfB Stuttgart youth coaches traveled to New Delhi in late April to scout players from the U13 to U19 age groups for boys and an open age group for girls. The visit served as an evaluation camp to gain a comprehensive overview of the teams across all age groups.
During the visit, VfB coaches analyzed players, trainers, infrastructure, and organization, while working with Sudeva coaches to build a suitable football philosophy and leading sessions to drive sustainable growth. A structured daily schedule—with twice-daily field sessions and afternoon classroom work—helped guide both players and coaches. After twelve days, both parties were happy with the progress, showing signs for sustainable, long-term growth.
This assessment now enables VfB to support Sudeva in planning the next steps of their development journey, with a follow-up trip to Stuttgart scheduled for this summer.
Bundesliga Dream
For the second time, VfB Stuttgart supports the Bundesliga Dream project, which helps create opportunities for aspiring footballers in the greater Asian region through league-driven initiatives. This year’s project targets India—a second time in the country in project history—as it includes a massive talent pool with high potential.
VfB youth coaches scouted players out of a large pool of 450 players from across the country in hopes of selecting a group to come to Stuttgart for exposure to an elite football environment at the VfB Academy.
In May, the scouting process ends with 19 U15 players being selected to travel to Germany to experience training at VfB Stuttgart for 1 week. The elite training includes a behind-the-scenes experience with friendly matches, training with youth coaches, and cultural experiences.
