Successful football camps in Austin and Johnson City

Sustainable international talent development and coach training were on the agenda at VfB Stuttgart’s latest football camps in the US.

In May and June 2025, VfB Stuttgart were once again making waves in the United States, inspiring children, young people and coaches alike. Alongside local partners, VfB ran a number of football camps in two US states – all of which left a positive impact.

Football fever in Austin, Texas

From 12 to 24 May, VfB ran two camps in Austin, Texas. Together with the club’s regional partner, David Dinh from local club Forza VIP, two coaches from the VfB Football School oversaw around 90 children and young people aged eight to 16.

The football enthusiasts at the Forza VIP and Liberty United camps were divided into younger and older groups, allowing them to develop their technical skills and abilities on the ball through a wide range of exercises.

As well as football, the focus was on education: nine local coaches were given a practical glimpse into the talent development process at VfB. In a valuable exchange, the coaches’ actions were analysed and discussed as a group.

This was the second set of camps in Austin in 2025, and once again highlighted the benefits of exchanging knowledge and a joint development process.

VfB visit Tennessee

VfB also spent a week in Johnson City, Tennessee, in mid-June. Around 60 children aged seven to 15 were put through their paces at the James K. Ellis Athletic Complex.

An intensive coach training course was held simultaneously under the watchful eyes of the VfB Football School coaches. Fourteen tacticians from the region were given an intriguing insight into the Bundesliga, VfB Stuttgart and the training philosophy at youth level in particular.

Strong statement for sustainable football development

These football camps are a prime example of how VfB promotes the sustainable development of talented youngsters internationally, and how the club supports coaches on their journey.
