In the 1973/74 campaign, which VfB ended in ninth place, they beat Frankfurt 3-1 at home on Matchday 21. Hans “Buffy” Ettmayer’s goal to open the scoring was the 10,000th goal in Bundesliga history and was also voted Goal of the Month.

On Matchday 27 of the 1985/86 campaign, VfB triumphed 7-0 at Fortuna Düsseldorf. The man of the match was without doubt Jürgen Klinsmann, who scored five of the seven goals. VfB finished the season in fifth.

#399: Matchday 38, 1991/1992, 2-1 vs. Bayer Leverkusen (away) – Guido Buchwald heads VfB to title

16 May 1992 ranks as one of the most significant days in the history of VfB. The 2-1 win in Leverkusen on the final day of the season sealed the Cannstatt boys’ second Bundesliga title. Guido Buchwald netted the winning goal after a pass from Ludwig Kögl in the 86th minute.

#602: Matchday 33, 2006/2007, 3-2 vs. VfL Bochum (away) – Timo becomes Titan

An important step on the way to the 2006/07 title was the 3-2 victory at Bochum on the penultimate matchday. The hero was goalkeeper Timo Hildebrand, who secured the three points with a world-class save against Bochum’s Christoph Dabrowski in the dying minutes. The win moved VfB to the top of the table with one game left.
