VfB enjoy successful launch in Tokyo

VfB enjoyed a hugely successful launch of their youth football project in the Japanese capital of Tokyo.

VfB enjoyed a hugely successful launch of their youth football project in the Japanese capital of Tokyo. In collaboration with partners Schächter Sports and Funroots Tokyo, VfB have been holding numerous digital coaching courses and live training sessions with coaches from the VfB football school since February, and plan to continue doing so over the coming months. In the home country of VfB captain Wataru Endo, almost 60 children have been training in accordance with the successful youth philosophy from Cannstatt. Furthermore, a total of 60 coaches are being trained in the Japanese metropolis.

“We are very pleased to be able to carry out this unique programme here in Tokyo and are enthusiastic about the innovative possibilities,” said Jun Hirano, founder and managing director of Funroots. “The participating children have great fun and receive immediate and timely feedback from the VfB coaches, which thus has a very high learning impact. This is a unique opportunity, especially in these challenging times. We would like to thank VfB very much for their trust.”

“We are delighted with the extraordinary launch of our activities in Tokyo and with the great feedback,” said VfB board member Rouven Kasper. “The interaction with the participants and coaches on site is excellent and the exchange is also great fun. We want to make VfB better known and more tangible in Japan through high-quality, innovative measures.”

Even before the Covid-19 crisis, VfB were active in Japan and, in addition to various football camps, carried out coaching training courses and visits to orphanages in Yokohama.
