Alexander Wehrle: “We’ve spoken in detail about the roadmap for our contract talks as well as decisions on the expansion of our sporting structure. In hindsight, it would certainly have been better to involve Markus Rüdt and Sven Mislintat at an early stage. That has been discussed and cleared up with Sven.”
Sven Mislintat: “We would have felt it more purposeful to have been involved in the process of recruiting Christian Gentner right from the start. Regardless of that, Markus, Rino and I are very happy about his return to VfB and are most positive about it. We will integrate him into our team as if we had selected him ourselves. We are equally pleased about the involvement of Sami Khedira and Philipp Lahm as advisers to the board.”
The two men have agreed that talks on continued collaboration with Mislintat, whose contract as sporting director at VfB runs until summer 2023, will resume after Matchday 15 and conclude by the end of the year.
