At the end of April, the VfB Stuttgart football academy took its first step in the Far East with a nine-day visit to the Greater Tokyo Area in Japan. With the support of current Japanese champions Kawasaki Frontale, VfB organised 12 elite training sessions for junior teams from the region, led by Antonino Rizzo, head coach at the VfB academy and a UEFA A License holder. A total of 168 children and teenagers took part over the nine days.
In addition, the VfB delegation also visited a mother-and-child care facility and put smiles on the kids’ faces with a fun training session and by donating VfB jerseys. Following this successful start, VfB will continue to expand its activities in relation to youth football in Japan.
