All the best, Christoph Daum!

VfB congratulate the championship winning coach from 1992 on his 65th birthday.

This Wednesday, Christoph Daum turns 65 years old. At VfB, Daum took on the role as head coach in November 1990 and subsequently led the side in the shirts with the infamous hoop from fifteenth place up to sixth in the table. In the following season, 1991/1992, an 86th minute goal from Guido Buchwald to make it 2-1 in Leverkusen secured the fourth of five German championship titles for VfB Stuttgart. In August 1992, the Cannstatt Boys clinched the Supercup title with a 3-1 win over DFB Cup winners Hannover 96.

Between 1990 and 1993, Christoph Daum guided VfB from the side-lines in 125 competitive games. Daum began his 30-year coaching career in the 1980s at 1. FC Köln, with whom he celebrated promotion to the Bundesliga in his second stint at the club in 2008. Additionally, Christoph Daum celebrated Austrian league and cup double success with FK Austria Wien (2002/2003), as well as Turkish championship successes with Besiktas Istanbul (1994/1995) and Fenerbahce Istanbul (2003/2004 and 2004/2005). Most recently, he was head coach of the Romanian national team until September 2017.
