Serdar Tasci was born on 24 April 1987 in Esslingen am Neckar.

From 1999 he played in the VfB Stuttgart academy and won the German U17 championship in 2004 as well as the U19 title in 2005.

He was promoted to the VfB first-team squad ahead of the 2006/07 season and ended it a Bundesliga champion. The centre-back made 243 appearances in all competitions for Stuttgart and was captain of the team until 2013, when he left for Spartak Moscow. He spent five years at Spartak – including a brief loan spell at FC Bayern Munich in 2016, where he won the Bundesliga and DFB Cup – and became a Russian champion and Super Cup winner. In 2019 he joined Basaksehir Istanbul.

Tasci played 14 times for the German national team and was part of the squad that finished third at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

He’s the managing director of SEA Capital GmbH, which operates in the field of property development and project management

He’s currently completing the DFB programme ‘Players Pathway Management’, which prepares people for roles in football management such as sporting leadership, squad planning and strategic club management.
