"Always a highlight to play in front of our fans"

Another top-of-the-table clash is on the calendar for VfB this Saturday, with Angelo Stiller available again following suspension to face his former club.

Angelo Stiller was forced to watch on as VfB Stuttgart went toe-to-toe at Bayer 04 Leverkusen last weekend because he was serving a one-match ban for accumulating his fifth yellow card of the season.

However, the 23-year-old still travelled to Leverkusen to support his team-mates against the newly crowned Bundesliga champions, cheering them on from the stands alongside Josha Vagnoman. “We set out to achieve a lot and the boys executed our plans really well,” said Stiller in an interview with VfB-TV. “At the end it was disappointing to concede the late equaliser, but we need to keep playing exactly the way we did in Leverkusen.”

The midfielder is available again this coming Saturday as VfB host his former employers FC Bayern Munich at the sold-out MHP Arena (kick-off 15:30 CEST), pitting together the teams currently third and second respectively in the Bundesliga standings.

“It’s always a highlight to play in front of our fans at our stadium,” said Stiller, who laced his boots at Bayern from 2010 to 2021. “We’ll enjoy it. We’ll do everything we can to leave the pitch as winners.”
