Sebastian Hoeneß: “We’re pleased that we’ve made it to the semi-finals once again. We didn’t get into the match very well in the first ten minutes. Kiel had set themselves up well and we were disorganised on a few of their attacks when it came to picking up loose balls. After that, we sorted our formation out, managed to play our style a bit better and got the game under control. At the end of the day, we deserved the win, even though it was hard work for us.”
Chris Führich: “Those were some tough conditions out there, against opponents who didn’t make life easy for us. Our only concern, though, was to make it through to the next round. It wasn’t easy, but we knew what we had to do and we deserved that first goal. At the end of the day, we got a bit lucky that Kiel failed to take their chances, as that could have made it tough on us again. As it is, though, we finished off the match in style.”
Alexander Nübel: “I’m delighted with the win. It was really cold and the pitch was hard, which didn’t make for a nice match. The weather prior to kick-off was a wake-up call, but we set ourselves up well to counter Kiel, got ourselves into the game and overall, we deserved the win. We played well, scored three and kept a clean sheet – can’t argue with that!”
