Tayfun Korkut: "That was a match for the spectators – for the coaches it wasn’t quite as we would have envisaged it. We had a clear plan, but conceding the early goal hurt us. I think that was clear to see. We then got lucky not to concede a second. Freiburg then withdrew somewhat and closed down the spaces. In the second-half we played better and were more stable. We managed to press our opponents back and scored our goals. We unfortunately then conceded two deflected goals. Today was a small step – that we can live with! We have to see to it now that we make the big step in our up-coming home match."
Mario Gomez: "We were completely knocked out of our stride by the 0-1, which rocked us somewhat. We then showed some real heart, we performed well as a unit and during the course of the game, we showed just what made us so strong last season. Following our goal to make it 3-2, we came close to scoring a fourth. That considered, this draw feels a little more like two points dropped."
Ron-Robert Zieler: "We didn’t really get into the game well and it took quite some time for us to find our rhythm. The equaliser really did us good. We showed some very good mentality. Having then twice taken the lead, I had a good feeling, because we decided a lot of tight games in our favour last season. We now must take the point and all the positives from this game and continue to work on securing the full three points as soon as possible."
