Having enjoyed a day off on Monday, Markus Weinzierl and his players began their preparations for Saturday’s home match against TSG Hoffenheim (kick-off 15:30 CET) on Tuesday morning.
Following the late defeat away to Borussia Dortmund last Saturday, VfB will be looking to pick up from their last match at the Mercedes-Benz Arena, when they thrashed Hannover 96 5-1. Fortunately, all 24 members of the first-team squad reported for duty for the first training session of the week.
VfB duo set for special encounter
Saturday’s match against Hoffenheim will be the 20th meeting between the two sides in the Bundesliga, and it will be a particularly special one for two VfB players. Steven Zuber faces his parent club for the first time since his January loan move to Stuttgart, while Andreas Beck, who played for Hoffenheim from 2008 to 2015, also takes on his former employers.
