Gentner’s game was over after 34 minutes in Frankfurt, with a calf injury forcing the 33-year-old off the field. A scan on Monday revealed that the VfB captain suffered a strain in his right calf and will be sidelined for two to three weeks.
Castro will also miss the club’s upcoming games after tearing a muscle bundle in his adductor area. The VfB no. 8 is expected to be out of action for three to four weeks.
While the midfield duo were absent from training on Monday, their team-mates who started against Frankfurt completed a recovery session and those who were on the bench on Sunday worked on the pitch at the club’s training ground. The next open training session will be at 10:30 CEST on Wednesday.
