No contract extension for Aogo

Dennis Aogo will leave VfB Stuttgart when his contract expires on 30 June after the club’s management and the 32-year-old agreed not to extend it.

The experienced defender made 44 of his 257 Bundesliga appearances in a VfB shirt over the past two seasons, most of them in his first year at the club. He featured 30 times in all competitions in his first season and 17 times in 2018/19.

Head of sport Thomas Hitzlsperger:

“Dennis Aogo showed a professional attitude every day throughout his two years at VfB and gave everything for the club. In light of the new direction that the club is taking, we have decided not to renew his contract. We would like to thank Dennis for his efforts in red and white, and wish him and his family all the best for the future.”

Dennis Aogo:

“I was very happy at VfB and in Stuttgart. My thanks go to the sporting management and particularly the team behind the scenes, as well as the rest of the staff at the club. I hope they all get to enjoy an immediate return to the Bundesliga. I’m now looking forward to fresh challenges.”
