Daniel Didavi returns to VfB

The attacking midfielder makes the move from VfL Wolfsburg to VfB Stuttgart for the coming season and has signed on with his home-club until 2021.

The Nürtingen born midfielder joined VfB initially as a seven-year-old and worked his way through the club’s youth teams over the following years. Between 1997 and 2016, the now 28-year-old played continually for the Cannstatt Boys – with the exception of just two seasons. During that time, Didavi developed from a youth-team hopeful into a vital pillar within the professional team.

The attacking-midfielder made his Bundesliga squad debut for VfB in the summer of 2010 and went on to score 19 goals and provide seven further assists in 70 competitive games for the Wasenelf. Notching up 13 Bundesliga goals and five assists, Daniel Didavi bid farewell to VfB as the club’s top-scorer in the 2015/2016 campaign. Over the past two seasons, Didavi made 55 competitive appearances for VfL Wolfsburg, scoring 14 goals and providing 12 assists.

Daniel Didavi will wear the number 10 shirt for VfB.

Welcome home, Dida!

Daniel Didavi: "I am truly delighted to be home – I really missed the fans, the staff and the complete surroundings here. My contact to VfB was always very close – to many staff members, the team and the president, Wolfgang Dietrich. When the opportunity arose for me to make the move to VfB, I was immediately clear that I wanted to return. I wore the VfB jersey as a kid and I am just dying to pull that jersey back on again."

Wolfgang Dietrich: "We are extremely happy and proud to have Daniel back home. He is one of the most threatening midfielders in the league and he is a VfB man with heart and soul! With his footballing qualities and identification with VfB, Dida fits in perfectly to the route that the club is taking."
