"Stay on track"

This Saturday, VfB play host to Eintracht Frankfurt. The side in the shirts with the infamous red hoop will be looking to pick up from where they have left off of late.

The points tally from the last three games has given those in charge at VfB reason to be positive – but no reason to be contented! "It’s a satisfying interim result," commented VfB Sporting director Michael Reschke, continuing: "We still have a four point advantage over the relegation play-off place. It’s an important advantage but it’s far from being completely reassuring. In Wolfsburg, Bremen and Mainz, we have three teams directly behind us, who all have good squads and are capable of stringing a run of wins together at any time."

By picking up further points this Saturday afternoon (kick-off 15:30 CET, tickets still available), the VfB players will be hoping to open up an even more comfortable cushion over the drop-zone. In order for that requirement to become a reality, head-coach Tayfun Korkut knows his men must pick up where they left off with their more recent performances. "We need to stay on track and continue to stabilise our processes. For me, orderliness and good utilisation of the space available is essential. Then we’ll have the freedom to go on the offensive," insisted the 43-year-old.

Additionally, the VfB coach also explained that the first away victory of the season in Augsburg last weekend has given his side "a major boost": "We can take the positive elements from this game into the next one,“ noted Korkut. A further boost for the Wasenelf could indeed come from the stands. „We’re playing in our own stadium and I am quite confident we’ll have the support of our fans to rely on," concluded the VfB head-coach.
