Win with downside

Daniel Ginczek and Chadrac Akolo both incurred injuries during the clash with Dortmund and are out of the reckoning for the time being.

VfB’s joy over the 2-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund has been somewhat clouded by the injuries to Chadrac Akolo and Daniel Ginczek. A thigh problem prevented Chadrac Akolo from returning for the second period. An extensive examination has since revealed that the 22-year-old suffered a sinew tear to the thigh muscle. The attacker is definitely out of the reckoning for the up-coming away games at Hannover 96 and SV Werder Bremen.

Daniel Ginczek is expecting to be side-lined for a longer period than his team-mate. The striker was forced out during the course of the first-half with an adductor problem. An examination has confirmed the diagnosis of a sinew tear to the adductor area. However, the 26-year-old remains hopeful that he can return to action before the winter break.

Hannes Wolf: "It’s a real shame that the lads are unavailable. They are important players for us. We hope to have them back again as soon as possible."

VfB wish both players all the very best and speedy recoveries.
