Friendly win over Heidenheim

VfB took advantage of the international break to play a friendly against 1. FC Heidenheim, which they won 2-0 at the Robert-Schlienz-Stadion in front of around 1,000 fans.

Following a goalless first half, VfB took the lead soon after the restart through a Norman Theuerkauf own goal (49'), with Waldemar Anton doubling the advantage a short while later with a long-range drive (55'). Both teams used the remainder of the match to give game time to other players. There were no further chances of note, leaving VfB with a 2-0 victory.

Bruno Labbadia, VfB head coach: "We trained well this week and wanted to approach the match against Heidenheim as if it were a competitive fixture. In the first half we weren't able to capitalise on our attacks. We had situations where we won the ball well and should have done more with it. That's all that was lacking in the first 45 minutes. After the break we managed to get our goals."
