VfB and 1. FC Nürnberg have agreed terms on the one-year loan release of Tobias Werner. Last season, the 32-year-old made the move from FC Augsburg to Stuttgart, making a total of six ‘2. Bundesliga’ and one DFB-Cup appearance for VfB. In total, the winger has played 127 Bundesliga, 123 second-flight and 24 DFB-Cup games. In addition, Tobias Werner has notched up a total of five appearances in the UEFA Europa League.
Michael Reschke, VfB Sporting Director:
"We are very happy for Tobi Werner, that he has found an interesting sporting challenge. Right from the outset, he made it clear to us that his wish for a loan release was 1. FC Nürnberg. Ultimately, we have found the ideal solution for all parties."
Tobias Werner: "Every footballer wants to play regularly – and that’s no different for me. For that reason, I have made the decision to leave VfB and make a loan move to 1. FC Nürnberg. I am really looking forward to an appealing new challenge and I will continue to keep my fingers crossed for VfB."
