VfB head coach Christian Gross: "We knew that we would be up against a strong opponent today. Their confidence was of course high after six wins in succession and we were very aware of the fact that BVB had scored often in the opening phase of their games. It was important that we started the game well and prevent them from creating openings. What I wasn't happy about was how often we lost the ball, that we missed the penalty chance we had and that there were problems in the wide areas. The game was beginning to look like it was getting away from us but Kuzmanovic's wonderful free-kick stabilised us again. The win was deserved but the score was too high! I am of course delighted about the three points."
VfB captain Sami Khedira: "We showed right from the start today who was boss! It's a pity that we didn't make it 2-0 with the penalty but, at the end of the day, we can consider ourselves satisfied with the game because we were in control for the best part. We made life difficult for ourselves because we didn't get a second goal earlier."
VfB midfielder Timo Gebhart: "We are making use of our chances on goal much better than we did in the first half of the season and, for that reason, we deserved to win the game today. We need to continue playing that way now and give our all in the up-coming games."
