VfB head coach Bruno Labbadia: "We started quite well bet weren’t determined enough going forward. Then we made two stupid mistakes that led to us going 0-2 down and that really set us back. We had high hopes for the second half but after the 1-3 there was no one on the pitch who could get a grip on the game. The fact that we allowed our heads to hang then is something that shouldn’t happen."
VfB captain Matthieu Delpierre: "Today everything went wrong, we were just lacking too many things. There was not enough movement, we had no ideas and we were lacking concentration for the goals we conceded. In general, we just made too many mistakes. It’s a big disappointment but we need to lift our heads and focus on the tasks ahead."
VfB goal-scorer Patrick Funk: "I think we played well and were aggressive enough in the first half hour but then we conceded two goals from out of nowhere. Once we pulled the goal back, we wanted to turn things around but then they made it 3-1 just after the re-start. This is a very disappointing defeat for us but we were simply caught napping in the decisive moments."
