On Sunday, some 300 members of the official VfB fan club visited the Mercedes-Benz Arena. On this occasion though, the fans weren't at the arena to see their team in action but instead to do some genuine hard work. Armed with hammers and chisels the fans freed around 1,000 of the original building blocks, from the currently under demolition Cannstatter Kurve, from dirt and mortar. The historical building material will be found again in the new Cannstatter Kurve and in the wall of the fan meeting point.
All for tradition
Ever 100 hammers and chisels were provided by VfB Team Partner WÜRTH and of course food and drinks were also made available. Stefan Heim, VfB director and manager of the ‘Stadion KG' was deeply impressed by the efforts of the fans: "It's stunning with just how much determination the fans were involved in this project. I am amazed by the enthusiasm and very thankful that they made the effort today to take a part of their tradition into the new fan block."
