Extension of roof

The last action will be to fit the roof construction to the new stands. In the middle, an extra ring will be added. The interior work in the 'Cannstatter Kurve' will be completed. The new fan meeting point will open.

Completion of the 'Cannstatter Kurve’

The VfB fans can finally return home, with the work on the new 'Canstatter Kurve' completed. In coming seasons, many a visiting opponent feel the energy oozing from the Red-White wall of VfB fans behind the goal. The capacity of the Arena will rise to 60,000.

Action in the sports hall

In the sports hall under the newly developed 'Untertürkheimer Kurve' the ball will begin to roll for a variation of different sporting events.

Completion of the 'Untertürkheimer Kurve'

It is expected that the new 'Untertürkheimer Kurve' will be ready for action in the first home game of the 2010/2011 season and from then on will offer perfect places for visitors to the Mercedes-Benz Arena to watch VfB Stuttgart strive for glory.

Demolition of the 'Cannstatter Kurve'

Work on the opposing stand is expected to begin at the end of the 2009/2010 season. The legendary home of the most loyal of VfB fans, the 'Cannstatter Kurve', will be demolished and the construction of the new stand can begin.

Construction of the 'Untertürkheimer Kurve'

The demolition of the old 'Untertürkheimer Kurve' has since been completed and work on the new stand has already begun. This will consist of two complete tiers and a sports hall for 2,000 spectators as well as a large hospitality area.

Back on the pitch

Normal match day procedures will be undertaken once again at the Arena on match day two of the 2009/2010 Bundesliga season. The pith has now been sunken and extra rows of seats have been installed for spectators in both the Main and EnBW-Stands.

Sinking the playing field

One of the first actions at the new arena will be to sink the pitch itself by 1,30 meters, in order to create space for extra rows of seats in the Main and EnBW-Stands. The foundations will first be covered in a protective foil before the underground heating and pitch are laid.
