Pogrebnyak on the move to Fulham
On the final day of the January transfer window, VfB Stuttgart agreed terms with Fulham FC on the transfer of striker Pavel Pogrebnyak. The Russian international is to immediately join up with the Premier League’s twelfth placed side. The details of the transfer remain undisclosed. The 28 year old signed to VfB from FC Zenit St. Petersburg in the summer of 2009 and in that time has played 67 Bundesliga games, scoring 15 goals for the club. Pavel Pogrebnyak’s contract with VfB was due to expire this coming summer.
Pavel Pogrebnyak: “Some of the lurid comments which have been circulated by the media of late are simply not true. That’s not the type of person I am. I really enjoyed my time in Stuttgart and I have emphasized that on a number of occasions – my family and I were very happy here. I know that a striker is measured on the number of goals he scores and my record in Stuttgart wasn’t good, but I had the feeling that the fans here acknowledged my efforts, which is why I want to make an honourable exit and thank them.”
Fredi Bobic: “Pavel behaved himself amicably right to the end. Under the current circumstances, the move is the best solution for both sides. We wish Pavel all the best in England.” reißerische Zitate, die heute durch die Medien geisterten, sind
