Mr. Labbadia, you now have a week without training ahead. How exactly does the week look for the players?
Bruno Labbadia: “The players will have to work on four or five days. They need to work on the basics and also the interval areas. William Kvist, who is a week behind in training, will do some individual work on the ball. I think that’s a good thing and the players will come back psychologically fresher.”
And how does the rest of the pre-season programme look for the players?
Bruno Labbadia: “We have finished laying the groundwork and will go on to some more intensive areas now. We’ll have to get down to the finer tactical elements, movement and set pieces. There is still a lot to be done.”
How have the preparations gone so far?
Bruno Labbadia: “The lads have all really pulled their weight and worked very intensively. I am well aware of what is demanded of the players right now but that’s exactly how it should be at this point in time.”
Next week you will have the eagerly awaited VfB-Season-Opening-Event at the Mercedes-Benz Arena. Are you looking forward to the contact with the fans?
Bruno Labbadia: “Yes, of course. Close contact with the fans, and in particular with the children, is very important to us. We will have a showcase training session, together with the children and youths along with the VfB mascot Fritzle. That’s something we are really looking forward to.”
